Lance A. McNaughton

Lance McNaughton joined Duxstad, Bestul & McNaughton in 2013, after 14 years of solo practice in Southwest Wisconsin.

Lance is dedicated to serving the legal needs of his clients and to developing the personal relationships that provide his clients with peace of mind and a sense of trust. He understands the role of expert legal counsel in helping clients manage the major events, minor crises, and natural transitions in their lives and Lance assures clients that no matter what life throws at them, the legal resources are here at Duxstad, Bestul & McNaughton to meet their needs. Lance strives to provide proactive advice that avoids problems down the road. His goal is always to place his clients in a better position for having worked with him.

Philosophy

Through smart estate planning and their efficient administration, Lance alleviates worry and ensures that families’ wishes are honored. He assists clients protect their assets from the looming threat of nursing home and care expense and maintain eligibility for Social Security and Medicaid benefits. He helps clients realize their goals of owning a home, purchasing commercial properties and acquiring and selling family farms. For his municipal clients, Lance is ready to assist with day-to-day police and business matters, but also with the larger development issues so important to our communities.

A graduate of Carthage College, Lance received his law degree from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from Terry Sanford Institute of Public Policy at Duke University. During his years in solo practice Lance served as mayor of the City of Shullsburg from 2004-08. His volunteer work has included serving on the governing boards for the Lafayette Development Corporation, Southwest Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission, Southwest Badger Resource Conservation and Development Council, Inc., and Greenco Industries, Inc., in Monroe.  Lance is a member of the National Association of Elder Law Council.
